“I have always been into motorbikes and cars, so that’s why I studied Automotive Engineering, to learn how they work and how are they manufactured.”
Currently operating as the EHS Supervisor out of the Kautex Iberica plant in Spain, Alicia started her employment at Kautex as an intern before moving into the Kautex Development Program (KDP), giving her rotational experience through a variety of new projects.
“My current job as an EHS supervisor gives me another perspective on how many people and departments are needed to manufacture products. I really enjoy the continuous challenges, new projects, and constant change of roles and positions. I feel very accomplished by how much I am learning about every department and how much the company is relying on me to achieve goals.”
Alicia studied Automotive Engineering in her time at university with an Industrial Engineering concentration and is currently pursuing her Masters’ in Industrial Engineering with a concentration in Information Technology. She chose Kautex for her career to develop herself in a Tier 1 company and credits Kautex for helping in her work/life balance as she juggles working full-time in a supervisor position while still studying for a masters’ degree. She has also joined the employee resource group for women, Women of the World (WoW).
“Women in automotive have a position that must be fought for and shared so we can achieve leadership positions without having to choose between work and other aspects of our lives.”
Even though she has only worked for Kautex since January 2022, her willingness to throw herself into new functions and new projects while still pursuing higher education and an advanced degree make her a crucial member of the team and a motivator to others.
In a move that should not be surprising, after she earns her masters’ in Industrial Engineering, she also plans to pursue her MBA to further satisfy her curiosity for learning and growing intellectually.
