According to dictionary.com, teamwork can be defined as a "cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause." Teamwork doesn't just refer to the team you sit on - it is often equally, if not more important, to work with external teams - who may have competing interests or deadlines but who work together to ensure a successful outcome for all.
Such was the challenge set forth for the team engaged in completing Kautex's 32 plant located in Wuhan, China - a team that included a myriad of people from the local government, the Wuhan Economic Development Zone Investment Company (the landlord), Tongmao Construction Company, and the Dongfeng Design Institute. Facing a short construction timeline, the Chinese lunar new year holidays and some of the coldest winter weather in recent history (-7 to -9 degrees), the team threw all their effort behind achieving the handover date.
Kautex recognized the efforts of its external collaborators at the handover ceremony, presenting them with traditional Chinese silk banners in appreciation and as a memrial gesture.
“With shared goals, collaborative problem solving and hard work our global Kautex team, the local Wuhan development, design and construction teams have delivered the building on time and to Kautex standards," said Michael Allen, Director Program Management. “This is a significant milestone as we prepare for start of production in March 2017 – and it was an honor to be a part of this diverse team."
“The design company, the construction company and the team of Kautex Textron overcame incredible pressures to complete the project in such a short time - less than 12 monts from start ot finish," said Christoph Beinhold, Kautex Senior Process Engineer. “Throughout the process of the team of Kautex Textron, contractors and suppliers worked in the most professional manner possible to make up time and resolve schedule issues while remaining focused on quality."
