Kautex Changchun Celebrates 20th Anniversary

CHANGCHUN, CHINA (11 April, 2016) – Kautex Textron, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, celebrated its 20th anniversary in Changchun in the Jilin province of China. The event was held in conjunction with the grand opening ceremony of Kautex’s new facility in Changchun, in the Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone (CETDZ). The facility was made possible through collaboration with the local CETDZ government.  

The new facility will serve as the production center of Kautex fuel systems using the company’s proven NGFS® technology. NGFS® serves as an enabler to produce lower hydrocarbon (HC) emission fuel tank systems and to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The technology also serves as the enabler for Kautex’s all-plastic pressurized fuel tank for hybrid power trains.

“The recommendations set forth in the recent Beijing VI and future China VI study indicate China will be increasingly committed to reducing the environmental impact of carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon emissions,” said Scott Hall, President & CEO of Textron’s Industrial segment. “Our objective is to collaborate with our customers to create technologies that lessen our environmental impact. Kautex’s technology will help our customers in China be well-placed to address current and future emissions regulations.”

Kautex also plans to relocate their existing conventional blow molding machines to the new site in 2017.

Founded in 1935, Kautex pioneered plastics processing and blow molding technologies.  The company produced its first blow molding machines in 1949 and also began production of blow molded bottles. In 1964, with the success of the first prototype plastic fuel tank, the company entered into the automotive market.

Kautex (Changchun) Plastic Technology Co., Ltd., was founded on 1 January, 1996 as a joint venture of Kautex and Lanbao Information Technology Co., Ltd. In 2012, it became fully-owned by Kautex, again through close collaboration and work with the local government.  The facility specializes in automotive fuel systems solutions and Kautex’s Clear Vision Systems’ camera and sensor cleaning solutions for global OEM automotive platforms.
